This Friday, we're undertaking a huge upgrade on our Location based system that is being optimised to handle all locations even better, from choosing different options from continents to cities, plus being able to link a street to a location like we can normal do already. (Even ChatGPT says our model is better than Big Tech's)
The key changes enables our community to help populate locations smarter, we can be more broad about our location and choose to search more broadly too across England, East Midlands, etc. (This was in update but required many locations to be added to our 47k existing locations and a new system to handle group arrays)
In addition it centralises our approach into one table with smart queries to reduce load on the database. By using smart algorithms on the front-end, we can simply target the database better.
For posts that are already linked to locations, we will relink them to their new location id and updating references of id's across the network in posts etc.
