Audio Rooms reduce the friction of joining a conversation. Instead of finding the perfect words to type, people can use their voice to contribute directly to your post and build a conversation together.

1. Harness community audio. Add context, personality and reassurance through your voice. Reduce friction and make conversations easier to join.

2. Record responsibly. Not sure what to say? Reassess before recording and keep your next take constructive or reassuring. Misuse may result in Audio Room access being limited or restricted.

3. Your data stays manageable. Recordings use your data balance. Delete your recording to get that data back. If the post is deleted, everyone gets their recording data back.

Help us plan Pride Park, Derby today. 🖤🤍

We’re working towards one of our biggest community projects yet — co-hosted with @TXTWRK.com, supporting the TheUKparty.com movement and a much bigger ambition:

Getting people involved again.

In politics. In their communities. In creating things. In solving problems. And in supporting the next generation of innovators, designers, creatives and community leaders.

📍 Pride Park, Derby
🎪 TXTWRK Annual 2026
🌍 Building towards TXTWRK Annual 2027

Want to play a part?

This isn’t an event we’re asking you to simply attend.

We’re inviting you to help shape it.

Whether you’ve got an idea, want to have your say, can contribute something, want to volunteer, represent an organisation, showcase your work — or simply think “I’d like to play a role” — there’s a way in.

Who do we want to connect with today?

1. Community groups & grassroots organisations
2. Artists, musicians, performers & entertainers
3. Designers, makers, developers & innovators
4. Young people with ideas that deserve a platform
5. Schools, colleges & universities
6. Local businesses & independent traders
7. Charities, CICs & voluntary organisations
8. Sports clubs & community teams
9. Food, hospitality & event traders
10. Photographers, filmmakers & content creators
11. Speakers, educators & workshop leaders
12. Event, production, staging & technical people
13. Volunteers who simply want to help
14. People interested in politics and improving how our communities are represented
15. Anyone doing something brilliant in their community that Derby needs to know about

And if we’ve missed you — tell us.

🏢 WANT TO CONTRIBUTE?

Apply to our Business Checklist if you want to contribute to the event, bring an idea, offer a service, get involved as an organisation or explore what role you could play.

🙋 WANT TO VOLUNTEER?

You can also get involved through the TXTWRK volunteering route.

Choose whichever route best reflects how you want to get involved — or explore both.

You don’t need experience running events.

You don’t need a huge following.

You don’t even need to know exactly what your role could be yet.

This event isn’t only about what happens on stage.

It’s about showing what becomes possible when a city connects its people, ideas, skills and opportunities.

You can already explore what’s happening across our community through the All Activity kit on Derby.support. Add your location to TXTWRK and your activity can also be indexed through the Link Menu on Derby.support, helping people discover what’s happening around them.

And Pride Park is only the beginning.

Our ambition is for this experience to lead into TXTWRK Annual 2027 — connecting communities across the country through a live link to stage and working towards welcoming up to 250,000 people.

We’ve never delivered a major public-facing event on this scale before.

That’s part of the point.

We want to document the journey, share what works, share what doesn’t, and ultimately show other communities how they can build something too.

Have you already been playing a role in your community?

Could this be your groundbreaking opportunity?

Come and have your say. Come and contribute. Come and volunteer. Come and help shape it.

How to Build a Community Where Everyone Has a Role to Play

If we want to create a greener, more connected and prosperous Derby, we need to stop waiting for someone else to do it and start building it together. Derby is the perfect city of opportunity because there is still so much left to create. Every public space, community project and local idea is an opportunity for residents, entrepreneurs, artists, makers and businesses to contribute.

Step 1: Identify community opportunities

Look for spaces, projects and local challenges that could benefit from sustainable improvements, public art, better amenities or community-led initiatives.

Step 2: Support local creators

Encourage residents, start-ups, schools, social enterprises and local businesses to design, manufacture and maintain community spaces using reclaimed and sustainable materials. This creates jobs, develops skills and keeps investment within Derby.

Step 3: Give everyone a meaningful role

Rather than asking people to simply volunteer, recognise their strengths by giving them a specialist community role through the Community Developer Framework.

Step 4: Build together

By matching people with roles that reflect their skills and interests, we create stronger communities, new enterprises, sustainable public spaces and a thriving local economy.

> Everyone has a title. Everyone has a role. Everyone has a job to play in building Derby's future.

Step 5: Build Your Community with TXTWRK

Once you've established your community role, use TXTWRK as your digital workspace to organise, grow and showcase your impact.

1. Add your location

Register your location so your organisation, business or community becomes discoverable on Derby.support. Using the TXTWRK Location Module, your profile, venues and events are indexed and connected across the platform. With the upcoming All Activity API Kit, your digital footprint—including posts, locations, events and activity—can be explored through powerful widgets on both Derby.support and TXTWRK, making discoverability effortless.

2. Create checklists and open projects

Build open-source checklists, project plans and volunteering opportunities that allow people to contribute, gain experience and document their best work. Every completed task helps strengthen your organisation while creating valuable evidence of impact.

3. Discover people nearby

Use integrated mapping features to find local volunteers, businesses, organisations and community groups, making collaboration easier than ever.

4. Launch new businesses and communities

Whether you're starting a neighbourhood project, social enterprise, charity or business, TXTWRK provides the tools to organise your work, attract contributors and build sustainable communities from day one.

5. Connect your website

Link your own web server with TXTWRK to unlock free features, APIs and embeddable widgets that automatically surface your latest content, projects, events and community activity across multiple platforms.

6. Manage locations, applications and opportunities

Create detailed location profiles with addresses, opening times and timetables. Publish questionnaires, business applications, volunteer registrations and monetisation opportunities—all from one connected workspace.

7. Share your journey

Document every stage of your project, from initial ideas and planning through development, launch and completion. Share updates, progress reports, marketing campaigns, case studies and lessons learned using flexible content formats. Experiment with new ideas, adopt proven methods and combine TXTWRK with your favourite AI tools, media platforms and web technologies to create a rich, searchable knowledge base that benefits both your organisation and the wider community.

> TXTWRK is more than a publishing platform—it's a community operating system that helps people discover each other, organise meaningful work, showcase achievements and build stronger local economies through open collaboration.

The Heart of Derby Through Time

Street: Cornmarket / Market Place (around HSBC Bank & Primark lights)
City: Derby, Derbyshire, East Midlands, England, United Kingdom, Europe

Stand outside the HSBC building at the junction of Cornmarket and Market Place and you're standing in one of Derby's oldest continuously used public spaces. For centuries, this has been where people came to trade, meet, celebrate, debate, shop and simply watch the world go by.

Today

The area is surrounded by some of Derby's best-known landmarks:
•HSBC Bank
•Derby Market Place
•Derby Market Hall
•The Guildhall Theatre
•Derby Cathedral Quarter
•A wide variety of cafés, restaurants, pubs and independent shops

Throughout the year the Market Place hosts seasonal events, food markets, live entertainment, Christmas lights, charity events and public celebrations. Although many of the buildings have changed, the purpose of this location has remained remarkably similar: bringing people together.

---

Around 500 Years Ago (c. AD 1525)

You would already recognise this as the centre of Derby.

The Market Place bustled with merchants selling grain, livestock, cloth, leather, meat and produce from surrounding villages. Horses and carts filled the streets while traders called out their goods. It was the economic heart of Derby and one of the busiest places in the county.

---

Around 1,000 Years Ago (c. AD 1025)

Derby was one of the Five Boroughs of the Danelaw.

The marketplace was already an important gathering place where Anglo-Saxon and Viking traders exchanged goods. Timber buildings lined narrow streets while blacksmiths, merchants and craftsmen worked nearby.

Much of today's street layout follows the same medieval pattern established over a thousand years ago.

---

Around 1,500 Years Ago (c. AD 525)

Following the end of Roman Britain, this area was largely open countryside.

Woodland covered much of the landscape, with small farming communities scattered across the River Derwent valley. Tracks crossed the countryside where roads and pavements now stand.

---

Around 2,000 Years Ago (c. AD 25)

The Roman settlement of Derventio (Little Chester) flourished just north of modern Derby.

This location was probably open farmland and woodland, connected by tracks leading towards the Roman settlement.

---

Around 2,500 Years Ago (c. 475 BC)

During the Iron Age, the landscape consisted of forests, grazing land and cultivated clearings.

Small farming communities occupied the fertile valley while local tribes raised livestock and grew crops.

---

Around 3,000 Years Ago (c. 975 BC)

The Bronze Age landscape was dominated by woodland surrounding the River Derwent.

Early farming families cleared small patches of land using bronze tools, while deer, wild boar and birds roamed the forests.

There were no buildings, roads or market squares—only nature and the first signs of permanent human settlement.

---

A Place That Never Stopped Being the Centre

Over the last three thousand years this location has transformed from woodland, to farmland, to Roman countryside, to an Anglo-Saxon meeting place, to a Viking market, through medieval trade, Victorian prosperity and into today's modern city centre.

The faces have changed.

The buildings have changed.

The businesses have changed.

But one thing has remained remarkably constant:

> People have always come here to meet.

That makes the junction around Cornmarket and Market Place not just the geographical heart of Derby—but one of its oldest social, commercial and cultural hearts as well.

A progress update after 17 months of developing TXTWRK, the world’s best network in the making!

We’ve made a bunch of new updates lately for our notification and checklist technology. You can now query a member’s engagements, you can also query a members directory to see their files, you can also format a message to switch between raw code and link code, you can copy raw code and you can copy the link of a comment too. — You will also be able to do all of these things on replies and threadlets in the next 24 hours, alongside doing some of these things when viewing applicants. We’ve tried to make the process a lot more easier and organised when things get busy.

Notification updates recently includes being able to hide individual notifications or hide notifications from a member, to help you manage your notifications better. You can still view notifications from them, if you choose to do so via the visibility filter. We will also introduce the ability to set rules and to be able to make labels/groups to segregate your notifications to the highest of levels for network delivery.

In other news, it’s super interesting how we have managed to link our API Directory kit to members directories for checklist owners servers, so now you can click on “Query Member Directory” to see a members files with ease for a checklist they are working on. We also made changes to primarily uploading files versus adding files to comments, which enables businesses & charities to own & manage their own data.

There’s lots more news coming up over the next two weeks, from seeing our advertising system in action, right up to taking a lead in the leaders innovation fund for the United Kingdom government programme is 2025.

You will see us develop in the live space over the next 48 hours, talking about this new fund being offered by the UK government which we will be encouraging UK entrepreneurs to apply to this leaders fund as well. We understand that we are eligible for this fund and with our recent progress @DerbyCollege, we’re looking forward to being a pioneer in work based technology for many years to come, where Derby College has expressed their interest in continuing our work & expanding upon our partnerships via Derby Community Hub & TXTWRK, alongside other ventures of our founder, such as UIA The Game & The ImFashion Group. We started on our journey to help people volunteer and now we’re achieving this goal, alongside inspiring the next generation of students, who most needed our opportunities.

Nearly 6 months complete in 2025, there’s no better time than now to reflect on the developments we’ve made across our life & work.
