🌍 DERBY.SUPPORT — FULL REPORT: COMMUNITY CALL DAY

TXTWRK.com/@DerbyCommunityHub

By 12 today, we completed Derby’s first full community connection map — linking all 30 communities to real organisations, clubs, centres and hubs you can actually ring, visit, collaborate with, and build alongside.

This is the foundation of Derby.support:
A citywide network where every neighbourhood, every culture, every family, every student and every grassroots group can connect, discover and work together.

Today’s conclusion:
Derby’s communities aren’t abstract — they’re real people, real places, real numbers, real futures.
And now they’re all reachable.

---

If we didn’t include you, email Go@Derby.support — everyone is included, we will make the space!

Help us plan Pride Park, Derby today. 🖤🤍

We’re working towards one of our biggest community projects yet — co-hosted with @TXTWRK.com, supporting the TheUKparty.com movement and a much bigger ambition:

Getting people involved again.

In politics. In their communities. In creating things. In solving problems. And in supporting the next generation of innovators, designers, creatives and community leaders.

📍 Pride Park, Derby
🎪 TXTWRK Annual 2026
🌍 Building towards TXTWRK Annual 2027

Want to play a part?

This isn’t an event we’re asking you to simply attend.

We’re inviting you to help shape it.

Whether you’ve got an idea, want to have your say, can contribute something, want to volunteer, represent an organisation, showcase your work — or simply think “I’d like to play a role” — there’s a way in.

Who do we want to connect with today?

1. Community groups & grassroots organisations
2. Artists, musicians, performers & entertainers
3. Designers, makers, developers & innovators
4. Young people with ideas that deserve a platform
5. Schools, colleges & universities
6. Local businesses & independent traders
7. Charities, CICs & voluntary organisations
8. Sports clubs & community teams
9. Food, hospitality & event traders
10. Photographers, filmmakers & content creators
11. Speakers, educators & workshop leaders
12. Event, production, staging & technical people
13. Volunteers who simply want to help
14. People interested in politics and improving how our communities are represented
15. Anyone doing something brilliant in their community that Derby needs to know about

And if we’ve missed you — tell us.

🏢 WANT TO CONTRIBUTE?

Apply to our Business Checklist if you want to contribute to the event, bring an idea, offer a service, get involved as an organisation or explore what role you could play.

🙋 WANT TO VOLUNTEER?

You can also get involved through the TXTWRK volunteering route.

Choose whichever route best reflects how you want to get involved — or explore both.

You don’t need experience running events.

You don’t need a huge following.

You don’t even need to know exactly what your role could be yet.

This event isn’t only about what happens on stage.

It’s about showing what becomes possible when a city connects its people, ideas, skills and opportunities.

You can already explore what’s happening across our community through the All Activity kit on Derby.support. Add your location to TXTWRK and your activity can also be indexed through the Link Menu on Derby.support, helping people discover what’s happening around them.

And Pride Park is only the beginning.

Our ambition is for this experience to lead into TXTWRK Annual 2027 — connecting communities across the country through a live link to stage and working towards welcoming up to 250,000 people.

We’ve never delivered a major public-facing event on this scale before.

That’s part of the point.

We want to document the journey, share what works, share what doesn’t, and ultimately show other communities how they can build something too.

Have you already been playing a role in your community?

Could this be your groundbreaking opportunity?

Come and have your say. Come and contribute. Come and volunteer. Come and help shape it.

Challenges

Derby City Council negligence to Derby.support — but now is the time to build together

Derby.support is Derby Community Hub, founded in December 2021. We were never the only organisation encouraging Derby residents to speak, record, question and participate—we were one part of a much wider community effort. Many residents, campaigners, independent organisations and businesses were doing this long before us and will continue long after us. Most organisations we’ve encountered in Derby have been good or exceptional—what we call gold. Our serious concerns relate to a small number, not Derby’s voluntary, community or business sector as a whole.

Our first core‑organisations meeting took place at Artcore on 9 October 2023, supported by Artcore providing the venue. Alan Graves spoke at that event, reminding us that everybody has a role to play in their community. We took that seriously. Since then we’ve focused on building, testing ideas and developing Derby.support. We also recognise our own limitations: we haven’t managed to stage another event like that for DCC and others to attend. Community organisations have finite time, people and resources, and sometimes the ground has been muddy on our side too.

But that’s also why we’re disheartened. We’ve publicly tagged DCC and other Derby organisations repeatedly while documenting and developing what we’re doing, yet meaningful engagement hasn’t followed. We’ve felt similarly disappointed by our experiences with the University of Derby and Marketing Derby. We’re not asking anybody to hand us power or treat Derby.support as the voice of Derby. Power should sit with people—not one individual, political party, community or organisation. If Derby.support now finds itself with greater influence, that’s not an ideal destination for us; it’s a responsibility to help distribute participation more widely.

---

Our journey so far

PeriodWhat happenedWhere we are now
2016 onwardsDerby had major plans, investment ambitions and consultationsWe want to document what happened, what didn’t, and today’s backlog
2017DCC ran a citywide residents’ surveyWe want to understand what residents tangibly influenced
Dec 2021Derby.support / Derby Community Hub foundedCommunity feedback became central to our work
Oct 2023First core‑organisations meeting at ArtcoreAlan Graves spoke about everybody playing a community role
2022–23Let’s Talk Derby existedFrom our experience, it didn’t feel practical or informative enough
2024 onwards“Have your say” became much more visibleWe want to test whether visibility translates into influence
2024 onwardsTXTWRK.com launched and developedA new way to centralise public, actionable feedback
2026 onwardsDerby faces major changeWe want communities involved from the beginning, not afterwards
---

The bigger question: does Derby have a feedback system people can trust?

DCC is again promoting “Have your say”, including consultations it says were developed using community feedback. Visibility is good—but visibility alone is not meaningful engagement.

Residents should be able to trace:

CONSULTATION → RESPONSES → EVIDENCE → DECISION → SPENDING → DELIVERY

If that chain disappears halfway through, simply saying “we consulted” isn’t enough.

We’ve encountered:
•webpages and planning information difficult to navigate
•consultations easy to miss or too short
•claims hard to reconcile with available evidence
•figures or results where underlying data needs to be clearer

The Emerging Local Plan illustrates the problem: how many ordinary residents know those pages exist, understand the terminology or have time to respond? These decisions could shape Derby for decades.

---

What Derby.support now wants DCC and public bodies to publish

To build trust, Derby needs visible evidence:
•Original consultation data(ca://s?q=Show_original_consultation_data)
•Participation numbers(ca://s?q=Show_how_many_people_participated)
•What people actually said(ca://s?q=Show_what_residents_said)
•How responses influenced decisions(ca://s?q=Show_how_feedback_changed_decisions)
•Funding allocations(ca://s?q=Show_what_funding_was_allocated)
•Actual spending(ca://s?q=Show_what_was_spent)
•Delivered projects(ca://s?q=Show_what_projects_were_delivered)
•Cancelled or changed projects(ca://s?q=Show_cancelled_or_changed_projects)
•Evidence behind claimed outcomes(ca://s?q=Show_evidence_for_claimed_outcomes)

This is how trust is built—not through branding, but through evidence.

---

What Derby.support will now document

•Plans from 2016 onwards versus what Derby actually received
•What was promised, funded, spent, delayed or abandoned
•How much of today’s pressure comes from yesterday’s backlog
•How easy consultations actually are for an ordinary person
•Whether feedback visibly changes decisions
•Successful DCC projects as well as failures
•Organisations doing good and gold‑standard work
•Community evidence from photographs, videos and public records
•Discrepancies without jumping straight to accusations—we’ll ask for evidence before calling wrongdoing a fact
•Our own performance too: if Derby.support gets something wrong, we’ll document and correct it

We will not label something “fraud” without evidence capable of proving it. But serious discrepancies shouldn’t be dismissed because they’re uncomfortable. If records, spending, project claims or consultation results don’t appear to match the evidence, the answer is simple: publish the evidence and let Derby see it.

---

When you need to give feedback — our 10‑point approach

•Record the issue clearly(ca://s?q=Record_the_issue_clearly)—facts before assumptions
•Date and locate it(ca://s?q=Record_date_and_location)
•Photograph or video it(ca://s?q=Photograph_or_video_evidence) where lawful
•Save screenshots(ca://s?q=Save_screenshots_of_announcements) of webpages, announcements or promises
•Put your feedback on TXTWRK.com(ca://s?q=Use_TXTWRK_to_centralise_feedback)
•Send it to the responsible organisation(ca://s?q=Send_feedback_to_responsible_organisation) and request acknowledgement
•Share publicly(ca://s?q=Share_feedback_publicly) through TikTok or other platforms
•Keep every response(ca://s?q=Keep_responses_and_reference_numbers)
•Follow up(ca://s?q=Follow_up_on_feedback) and compare the response with reality
•Build a timeline(ca://s?q=Build_a_public_timeline)—and correct it if new evidence proves something different

TXTWRK matters because we’re trying to move beyond feedback that disappears into an inbox. Derby Community Hub already uses its @DerbyCommunityHub TXTWRK presence to manage developments through checklists where people can apply and volunteer. The principle is simple:

IDEA → EVIDENCE → FEEDBACK → CHECKLIST → PEOPLE → ACTION → PROGRESS → RESULT

Done responsibly—protecting privacy, avoiding harassment, keeping original evidence and separating facts from suspicions—that creates a community‑owned public record.

---

What builds trust vs what damages it

Derby.supportOpen, accountable, collaborativeWe fail to recognise our own limitations
---

The wider landscape

People increasingly photograph what they see, record video, save screenshots and compare announcements with reality. Social media has given residents confidence and tools to hold institutions accountable.

Political expectations are changing too. Debates about devolution, regional power and public ownership show that people want a more direct relationship with institutions. Locally, Alan Graves told us in 2023 that everybody has a role to play in community. We accepted that challenge.

---

Great British Railways: a major opportunity

Government documents confirm Derby as the headquarters of Great British Railways. DCC announced in April 2026 that Becketwell and Midland House are the final two Derby HQ locations, with a final site decision expected later in 2026. GBR is intended to become a major publicly owned organisation bringing track and train together, with creation expected in 2027.

Something of this scale should connect rail, skills, businesses, education and ordinary Derby communities from the start—not arrive around them. Derby.support wants to help make that happen.

---

Where we stand now

Perhaps it is time to get down and dirty—but in the name of community empowerment, not another institutional fight. We recognise our limitations. We recognise DCC’s pressures. We recognise that relationships haven’t always developed as they could have. Goodwill can overcome those differences and give us stable ground instead of muddy ground.

We hope Derby City Council now welcomes Derby.support, helps us build, challenges us constructively and becomes part of this changing community format for the City of Derby. Our door remains open to DCC, the University of Derby, Marketing Derby, GBR and every organisation genuinely prepared to build with communities rather than simply talk about them.

Where DCC got it right, we’ll say so.
Where community organisations delivered excellent work, we’ll celebrate it.
Where evidence shows improvement, we’ll acknowledge it.
Where something doesn’t add up, we’ll ask for the records.

Because “Have your say” should mean more than filling in a form. It should mean residents can see what happened because they had their say.

Why have DCC not engaged with our feedback programme, you have to ask — we’re literally dying inside.

•Products and other public activity
•Location-connected records

The important idea is that these records don't necessarily have to remain on one social timeline.

Through TXTWRK's Web API Kits, participating community websites can use TXTWRK's structured public information within their own websites and services.

Publish once. Build a useful public record. Let that record become discoverable in more useful places.

---

3. That's what we've installed in Derby today. 🌍

Today we've installed TXTWRK API technology across:

www.Derby.support

and

www.DerbyCommunityHub.com

This allows our community websites to connect with TXTWRK rather than us having to manually recreate every piece of community information ourselves.

There are two important parts we want Derby to understand.

The Linking Menu

The TXTWRK Linking API Kit helps connect people with locations.

By setting your location on TXTWRK, your public profile can become associated with Derby and made discoverable through our connected community services.

Our Linking Menu can then help people explore and search the community using filters designed around useful local discovery.

Over time, this creates something much more meaningful than a list of names.

Location and profile information can help people discover others through things such as:
•Location
•Time in an area
•Languages
•Community involvement
•Volunteering interests
•Skills
•Career context

— where those fields form part of the appropriate public profile/search information.

It means a community website can start asking a much more useful question:

"Who and what is actually connected to this place?"

---

4. The new All Activity API Kit takes this another step forward.

The All Activity API Kit allows public TXTWRK activity to be featured through connected websites.

So rather than visiting Derby.support and only seeing information written directly by us, the website can begin reflecting activity created by people using the wider TXTWRK network.

Where that activity is publicly available and connected appropriately to Derby, it can become part of the local discovery experience.

This means Derby.support can increasingly become a window into what people are:

doing, creating, organising, offering, asking, sharing, developing and contributing across Derby.

And because this is delivered through an API Kit, the information originates from the TXTWRK system and can be presented through our own community website.

---

5. Public does NOT mean everything about you becomes public. 🔐

This distinction is incredibly important.

TXTWRK is being developed around public records with clear private boundaries.

The purpose of these community API Kits is to make appropriate public information more useful and discoverable — not to expose people's private account information.

Private or protected areas can include things such as:
•Private messages
•Notifications
•Private to-dos
•Private saves
•Scrapboard information
•Wallet and balance areas
•Business dashboard information
•Purchase/address information
•Certain checklist application information
•Your registered email address

So when we talk about an open and transparent community network, we're talking about making the things intended to form your public character, public activity and public contribution useful.

Your private working and account information remains a different layer.

---

6. And what about Premium or paid TXTWRK services?

TXTWRK also has a separate Premium/service layer and is developing additional paid tools and tiers.

That is different from the principle we're demonstrating here.

The community discovery idea is about connecting appropriate public TXTWRK records to useful community services.

Private account areas, protected information and paid/Premium services don't suddenly become public because a community has installed an API Kit.

Think of it as different layers:

PUBLIC

Things you intentionally build as part of your public TXTWRK presence and activity.

PRIVATE / PROTECTED

Your personal working areas, account information and protected interactions.

PREMIUM / PAID SERVICES

Additional TXTWRK services, tools and capabilities provided through its service tiers.

---

7. Why does this matter for Derby?

Because we're testing a different model for community technology.

Instead of every community organisation building another isolated database...

Instead of residents repeatedly creating the same information on different websites...

Instead of useful community activity disappearing down social-media timelines...

We can begin connecting structured public information together.

A person can build their public character.

An organisation can document what it does.

Someone can publish an opportunity.

Someone can volunteer.

Someone can create an event.

Someone can share feedback.

Someone can contribute skills.

And community websites can begin helping people discover those records through the place they belong to.

---

Derby is helping demonstrate what that future could look like.

Today we've installed these TXTWRK API Kits into www.Derby.support and www.DerbyCommunityHub.com.

This Friday, we're excited to show you more.

Add your location on TXTWRK.

Build your public profile.

Share useful public activity.

Connect with Derby.

And watch what happens when a community website becomes connected to the people who make the community what it is. 🌍

Discover. Connect. Contribute.

Bodycare is coming back to Derby - and the new Derbion store will be among the first in the UK to showcase Bodycare’s new concept, including a dedicated TikTok studio.

3 simple principles:

1 - Be willing to start.
You don’t need to already be a creator.

2 - Tell the story, not just the result.
Plan it. Make it. Show it. Follow it up.

3 - Get involved in somebody else’s content.
Send the message. Offer support. Collaborate.

These are 3 of our 10 content principles. We’ll explore the rest through our collaboration with Bodycare Derby.

Get involved. Make something. Make the connection.
