We're holding a meeting next week regards to 'City Safety Planning Resilience' at XYZ to be confirmed (University/College)"

"A long overdue area, our city has neglected in the last decade" - Today we put pressure on the city council, Derbyshire constabulary and educational institutions to step up with us and conquer terrorism, mental health & general daily issues, now & forever, on all safety issues, ensuring all can get involved, now, not tomorrow, tomorrow is too far away.

---

What has been reported
A black Suzuki Swift was driven into pedestrians in Friar Gate at about 9:30pm on Saturday 28 March 2026. Seven people suffered a range of serious but not life-threatening injuries. No one died in the incident. A man in his 30s was arrested shortly afterwards on suspicion of attempted murder and other offences. He remains in police custody. Friar Gate remains closed with a police cordon in place from the junction with Curzon Street/Cheapside up to Ford Street. Police say they are keeping an open mind on motives, there is no ongoing risk to the public, and the investigation is in its early stages. (Latest update: 29 March 2026, midday)

---

No one could of predicted what happened last night on Friar Gate in Derby. People may believe we can design our city better, but the incident could of happened in many different ways, even without a vehicle, etc. Therefore it's important to remain mindful in how to treat the incident.

'This leads on to everyone playing a role', to prevent this from occurring in the future. It's not just about city design, it's about understanding members in our community, including those who migrate to our city.

We don't just have an obligation to make our city safer as a 'community member', we have an obligation to make Derby feel like a place no one wants to destroy or vent in, a place that you can respect. -- Even though people might believe Derby nightlife is outdated and not functional, we can turn that challenge into a solution engineering taskforce; turn this city around, put the ideas of the people into it.

Next Steps – Derby.support

Next week: Derby.support forum. Voice it—locals, students, council. Sketch designs together, network tools smart (not social noise).

We turn pain into progress. Streets aren’t just roads—they’re havens. Get away from the work grind or home time. Pop-up bollards rise on busy nights—recycled steel, soft solar-blue glow, planters blooming, benches for real chats. Signs say: “Welcome to Derby – You’re Safe Here.” Gentle hums and warm lights remind everyone they’re seen, not invisible.

Always an alternative pathway — that’s our message. Barriers early. Community flags. No more zero-sum games where Britain, Iran, Ukraine and everywhere else lose to greed. We flip it bottom-up. Derby starts — every city can copy.

Event date TBC, but we’re rolling.

Join the conversation. Bring your ideas and questions. Let’s build havens, not just headlines.

February 2026 Theme: Threads of Knowledge - Educating Through Clothing

Welcome to the Derby Community Hub's February spotlight on TXTWRK.com! After diving deep into the world of criminology last month—where we questioned systems, identified urban safety gaps, and brainstormed community-driven solutions— we're shifting gears to something equally empowering but creatively hands-on: the education of clothing. This theme isn't just about what we wear; it's about unravelling the stories, science, and sustainability woven into every thread. Inspired by our founder, Mr. A. Claire (Sunny), who runs The ImFashion Group—a trailblazing collective aiming to reshape the fashion industry with ethical standards, fair trade practices, and innovative made-to-order optimization—we're inviting everyone in Derby (and beyond) to explore clothing as a tool for personal growth, environmental stewardship, and economic empowerment.

At its core, this theme celebrates the full spectrum of garment creation: from humble home startups to scalable mass production. We'll highlight how-to guides, showcase sustainable practices that prioritize materials better for our skin and the planet, and emphasize that anyone can get involved—no matter your stage. Whether you're a curious beginner innovating in your kitchen or a seasoned maker supporting local startups, your spending power and belief in science can drive real change. Let's start workshops, claim our spaces (physical and digital), and make it possible to buy and sell merch that embodies new fashion ethics. It's just the beginning in this evolving industry—join us to play a role!

The Journey of Clothing: History, Present, and Future

To truly educate ourselves on clothing, we must trace its evolution. Historically, garments were born from necessity and craftsmanship. In ancient times, materials like wool, linen, and silk were sourced locally, hand-spun, and dyed with natural pigments—think Egyptian linen wraps or medieval European woolen tunics. Derby itself has a rich textile heritage, tied to the Industrial Revolution's mills and innovations in knitting and weaving. Fast-forward to the present: the global fashion industry churns out billions of garments annually, but at what cost? Fast fashion dominates, relying on synthetic fibers like polyester (derived from petroleum) that shed microplastics, irritate sensitive skin, and contribute to massive waste—over 92 million tons of textiles end up in landfills each year.

Looking to the future, science and innovation are our allies. We're moving toward bio-engineered materials like lab-grown cotton, mushroom leather (mycelium-based alternatives to animal hides), and recycled ocean plastics transformed into breathable fabrics. These aren't just eco-friendly; they're skin-kind, hypoallergenic, and durable. Imagine clothing that self-cleans through nanotechnology or adapts to body temperature for ultimate comfort. At The ImFashion Group, our founder is pioneering these shifts by setting new global standards: optimizing supply chains for made-to-order production to minimize waste, enforcing better fair trade practices that ensure living wages for artisans, and developing smarter guidance for garment care—from eco-friendly cleaning methods to fiber reconditioning that extends a piece's life cycle. This isn't pie-in-the-sky; it's actionable, making startups more competitive in a congested market while meeting emerging regulations for sustainability.

Possibilities in Garment Making: From Startup to Mass Production

Clothing education opens doors at every level—let's break it down with practical how-to guides and ways to get involved.

1. Starting Small: Innovate at Home

•Why Start Here? Anyone can begin with basic tools, fostering creativity and self-sufficiency. It's empowering to make something wearable while reducing reliance on mass-produced items.
•How-To Guide:
•Gather materials: Opt for organic cotton, hemp, or bamboo—natural fibers that are gentle on skin (breathable, anti-bacterial) and the planet (biodegradable, low-water crops).
•Basic Sewing: Learn stitches via free online tutorials (e.g., hand-sewing a simple tote or upcycling old tees into scarves). Tools needed: needle, thread, scissors—under £10.
•Sustainability Spirit: Focus on zero-waste patterns; cut fabric to minimize scraps, compost natural remnants.
•Get Involved: Host a home workshop via Zoom or in your living room. Share your creations on TXTWRK.com's Derby Community Hub checklists—volunteer to teach others and build your portfolio. Believe in the science: studies show natural materials like merino wool regulate body temperature better, reducing skin irritations.

2. Building a Startup: Support Each Other

•Scaling Up: Transition from hobby to business by prototyping designs, sourcing ethical suppliers, and testing markets.
•How-To Guide:
•Design & Prototype: Use free software like Inkscape for patterns. Test with small batches—made-to-order reduces inventory waste.
•Ethical Sourcing: Choose GOTS-certified organic fabrics (Global Organic Textile Standard) for skin-safe, planet-friendly options. Avoid harmful dyes; go for plant-based alternatives.
•Marketing: Launch on platforms like Etsy or TXTWRK's public shopping features. Price competitively by optimizing chains—ImFashion Group's model shows how to cut costs through direct artisan partnerships.
•Get Involved: Support local startups with your spending power—buy their merch! Join our Hub's digital spaces to network, share resources, and collaborate. If you're inspired by ImFashion's brands (like DesignerB.co.uk or Jheeze.com), start your own line and apply fair trade standards from day one.

3. Mass Production: Ethical and Efficient

•The Big Picture: For those eyeing larger scales, focus on automation balanced with sustainability.
•How-To Guide:
•Supply Chain Optimization: Implement made-to-order systems using AI for demand forecasting—reduces overproduction by up to 40%.
•Material Innovation: Shift to recycled polyester or Tencel (from sustainable wood pulp)—better for skin (moisture-wicking) and planet (closed-loop production).
•Standards & Compliance: Meet new global benchmarks for cleaning (e.g., enzyme-based detergents) and reconditioning (recycling fibers into new yarn). ImFashion is leading here, helping startups fire up with best practices while staying competitive.
•Get Involved: Volunteer for Hub events auditing local brands or lobbying for better industry regs. Your role? Use spending power to demand these standards—boycott fast fashion, invest in ethical labels.

Showcasing Sustainability: Better for Skin, Planet, and Community

Sustainability is the heartbeat of this theme. Choose materials like organic linen (cooling, antimicrobial for sensitive skin) over synthetics that trap heat and chemicals. For the planet, these choices cut water use (hemp needs 50% less than cotton) and emissions. Recondition fibers through upcycling workshops—turn old jeans into insulation or new denim. Science backs it: research from the Ellen MacArthur Foundation shows circular fashion could add $700 billion to the economy by 2030.

Make It Your Space: Workshops, Digital Hubs, and Merch

•Start a Workshop: Claim space at local venues or online via TXTWRK. Teach mending, dyeing, or design—apply to our volunteer checklists for support.
•Open Digital Spaces: Use Derby Community Hub on TXTWRK.com to share guides, sell merch, and connect globally.
•Buy & Sell New Fashion: Support emerging designers—purchase custom pieces that meet ImFashion's standards. Your buys fuel innovation!

Inspired by our founder's vision at The ImFashion Group to master arts like fiber reconditioning and set fair trade benchmarks, this theme empowers us to change the industry. Whether innovating at home, backing startups, or pushing for mass change, your involvement matters. Apply now via our checklists, volunteer, donate, or invest—let's weave a better future for Derby and the world.

Are you satisfied with new builds over the last 26 years in Britain?

The more you support their developments, the easier they can secure contracts and build how they want, when they want. Lets change this today...

It's important for community to have a say, for any development made in their city. You can now post feedback for places via the @TXTWRK post box, right up to filling in our @DerbyCommunityHub:Qs! to tell us about your needs.

@DerbyCityCouncil might not be documenting us this 2025 alongside @MarketingDerby, @UniversityofDerby and @DCFC, but at least we're showing community how to startup, even without community/business support. Today we've got @DerbyCollege onboard, expressing that they want to offer their students more opportunities into 2026 and also capitalise on the tools available by Derby startup @TXTWRK (TXTWRK).

This Christmas 2025, you can give the gift of www.Derby.support to your family & friends, where you can share knowledge (like you do every Christmas), about how to get involved in developing the City of Derby, how to present your character, your organisation and make way for a new generation of learning.

Derby based students have literally signed up and are now in the Derby.support menu link index! Setup a TXTWRK account, add your Derby based location and magic, people can now discover you in our www.Derby.support link index. You only have to make a page, update your details once and you're good to go! By simply indexing yourself, you make yourself accessible, with all of the right settings other big tech are not offering, such as "Are you looking for volunteers", "Are you a community leader and want to be discovered better?", etc...

This is your chance, because our founder of both Derby.support and TXTWRK will succeed either way, whether people join or not, because he's committed to the work and tools he's not just made for community, but also himself. To work on our founder's work, whether it be Derby Community Hub or TXTWRK, it's all documented on TXTWRK, because that way, you can feature all of the work you do for people or organisations like so @ImSunnyClaire (Sunny Claire):Checklisting! and all stakeholders can win, from understanding, what an earth is going on in this organisation, how it's really thinking and it's next steps!

And this is where the bigger picture starts to reveal itself.

Everything we’re doing — from Derby Community Hub to TXTWRK — is about public work, done visibly, so people can learn by seeing, not guessing. When work is documented openly, confusion turns into clarity. People can finally understand how organisations think, how decisions are made, and how progress actually happens.

That’s what TXTWRK enables.

On TXTWRK, people don’t just post ideas — they:
•Document work in real time
•Give feedback in public logbook form (from streets to systems)
•Make pledges that can be revisited and measured
•Collaborate openly, so no one feels locked out of the process

This is how communities innovate together.

It’s also how students, founders, volunteers, and leaders build credible public profiles that show how they work — not just what they say they do. Profiles that future employers, collaborators, and investors can actually trust.

That’s why the interest from Derby College matters so much.

They see what this unlocks for students heading into 2026:
•Public work experience before university
•Confidence working in shared spaces
•A visible record of contribution, collaboration, and learning
•Better preparation for university life and real-world teamwork

This is how we help students move from education into leadership — steadily, openly, and with purpose.

And yes — this work may not be officially documented in 2025 by Derby City Council, Marketing Derby, University of Derby, or Derby County FC — but it is being documented.

It’s being documented by the community.
It’s being documented by students.
It’s being documented by builders, organisers, and people who care enough to start without permission.

Because history isn’t only written by institutions — it’s written by those who show up.

Years from now, we’ll be able to look back and see:
•Who asked which questions
•Who offered help when no one else did
•Who invested time, effort, or belief
•How public inclusion online changed real outcomes offline

These are the opportunities many of us wish we had early in our careers.

Now, we’re creating them — together.

Turning chaos into reason.
Setting stages everywhere.
Building leaders who are respected not because of titles, but because of visible contribution.

This is Derby.
This is public work.
And this is only the beginning.
