Over the coming weeks, Derby.support will enrol people, businesses, venues, creators, students, community groups and local supporters onto TXTWRK.com. The aim is simple: help Derby find itself better. Members will register on TXTWRK.com, add their bio, publish updates, answer questions, add events, and become linkable through the Derby.support menu system. When a business or group adds an event on TXTWRK.com, that event can become discoverable through Derby.support.
This is not just a business directory. Derby.support is community first. Businesses sit inside community, alongside residents, students, venues, creators, organisations, events and local ideas. We have already built a wider community question bank, and the next step is a business-focused questionnaire that is quick to complete, mostly multi-choice, and useful enough to understand how business is going, what support people need, how customers should interact online/offline, what customers could do more, and who wants to join the next Derby.support event.
Derby.support has been built through years of effort. We started in 2021, developed the framework and community direction in 2022, raised the bar in 2023 by securing the Derby.support domain and holding an important meeting with around 5–10 organisations and local figures including Alan Graves, Derby Museums, BBC Radio Derby and others. In 2024, we developed more TXTWRK tools, local systems and website sections. In 2025, we worked with Derby College social media students, giving them real community campaign experience. Now in 2026, despite no donations, no financial support and major challenges, Derby.support is ready to enrol directly through TXTWRK.com and build the next layer of Derby’s community network.
---
---
Derby.support has not developed in easy conditions. While building Derby Community Hub and Derby.support, we experienced rejection, neglect, poor communication and minor levels of hostility from organisations that should understand community development.
This is not included to stop progress. It is included because it explains why Derby.support is now building directly with people, businesses, students and community members.
---
Derby.support will now invite early members to:
1. Register on TXTWRK.com
2. Add their bio and public information
3. Become linkable through Derby.support
4. Add events that can appear through Derby.support
5. Answer quick business/community questions
6. Join the next Derby.support event if interested
The questionnaire will not be a long, tiring form. Derby.support already has broad community questions covering work, skills, city image, venues, initiatives, activities, safety, local support and community involvement. The business set will only use what applies, then add dedicated multi-choice questions for business needs, customer interaction, events, student involvement and local support.
---
Derby.support can continue with or without major support. We can build our domains, grow our social media presence, enrol people onto TXTWRK.com, connect businesses and community groups, promote events, create feedback tools for organisations, places and objects, and inspire students to gain real experience through community-made systems.
Community comes first. Business sits inside community. Students sit inside community. Events sit inside community. Local discovery sits inside community. Derby.support is the network being built to connect all of it.
Register on TXTWRK.com. Add your bio. Add your events. Become discoverable through Derby.support. Help shape Derby’s community-built network before the next stage begins.

Appendices:

Derby.support is now moving into a direct enrolment stage.
The aim is to enrol people, businesses, venues, creators, students, community groups and local supporters onto TXTWRK.com so they can become part of Derby.support’s local discovery network.
TXTWRK.com provides the registration and publishing layer. Derby.support provides the Derby-facing local discovery, event visibility, community structure and long-term network direction.
This means members can:
The goal is not only to build a directory. The goal is to build a living local network.
---
Derby.support is community first.
Business is important, but business is not separate from community. Students are not separate from community. Events are not separate from community. Local discovery is not separate from community.
A real local network must include:
Derby.support exists to help Derby understand itself, connect itself and support itself.
The wider community question bank already proves this. It covers work, skills, learning, city image, activities, safety, initiatives, venues, local organisations and community involvement.
---
Businesses are part of local life.
A café, shop, venue, studio, market trader, event organiser, service provider, creator, charity, community group or independent trader can all shape how Derby feels.
Businesses need customers, but they also need:
Derby.support can help businesses become more discoverable while also helping local people find useful services, events, places and opportunities.
This is why the business enrolment stage matters.
---
The enrolment model is simple:
This gives Derby.support a practical way to grow.
---
After registering on TXTWRK.com, members can:
For businesses, this means more than just being listed. It gives them a route into local visibility, event discovery, customer feedback and future support tools.
For community groups, it gives a way to be found.
For students, it creates a route into real projects.
For residents, it creates a better way to see what is happening around Derby.
---
Derby.support indexing means that a TXTWRK member can become linked through Derby.support menus.
The member may be organised by:
This matters because Derby.support needs to make Derby easier to navigate.
The existing question bank already includes questions about zones, areas, venues, amenities and city navigation, showing that Derby.support has been thinking about place structure as well as general community feedback.
---
When a member adds an event on TXTWRK.com, that event can become discoverable through Derby.support.
This helps:
Events are one of the easiest ways to move from online connection to real-world community.
---
Derby.support began as a local community effort to build better support, connection and visibility in Derby.
The project developed its framework, community direction and wider structure.
Derby.support secured the Derby.support domain and held an important meeting with around 5–10 organisations and local figures, including Alan Graves, Derby Museums, BBC Radio Derby and others.
This period showed that Derby.support could bring people and organisations into a serious conversation about local community development.
Derby.support spent more time developing TXTWRK tools, getting people onboard, preparing local systems and building website sections.
Derby.support worked with Derby College social media students, giving them real community campaign experience.
This proved the value of connecting students with local projects, and it created a pathway that should continue into 2026.
Now in 2026, Derby.support is moving into direct enrolment.
There have been major challenges, no donations and no financial support, but Derby.support remains active, optimistic and ready to build the next stage directly with the people of Derby.
---
This section records Derby.support’s experience of trying to communicate, collaborate, apply, contribute, support and build locally.
It is not included to stop progress. It is included because the full context matters.
Derby.support’s experience with the University of Derby in 2023 was disappointing.
From Derby.support’s perspective, the project was mocked or not taken seriously enough during the 2023 meeting, and the professional follow-up expected after engagement did not happen.
This matters because Derby.support was presenting a project connected to students, enterprise, civic technology, local development and community infrastructure.
Derby.support attempted to support and recognise activity connected to Marketing Derby’s CityLab project.
This included gifting a mini Derby.support plaque, supporting and writing about their activity, and making videos connected to popup shops and community activity involving others.
Derby.support’s experience was that this support was not meaningfully recognised or responded to.
Derby.support experienced poor communication and lack of response around support and financial applications while working with Derby College students in summer 2025.
This was especially frustrating because Derby.support was actively nurturing students and creating local value at the time.
Derby.support invited and tagged Derby County Football Club through social media.
From Derby.support’s experience, those invitations and tags were ignored, despite the club publicly promoting community activity.
Derby.support also experienced limited or failed responses from wider funding and support routes, including the National Lottery Fund and other Derby-based organisations.
The point is not that every organisation must support Derby.support. The point is that Derby.support repeatedly tried to communicate, collaborate, support others, apply for support and build local value, but too often received silence, weak communication or no follow-through.
---
Derby.support has tried formal routes.
It has tried meetings, communications, support applications, collaboration, local recognition and student development.
The repeated experience of poor response shows why Derby.support now needs to build directly with:
This direct approach means Derby.support can continue without waiting for permission or recognition from organisations that have already failed to respond properly.
The brighter side is that Derby.support can still build.
It can work on domains, social media presence, TXTWRK tools, event discovery, feedback systems, questionnaire sets, student pathways and local menus.
---
Derby.support has already built and developed:
The existing A4 briefing already states that Derby.support has community questions covering work, skills, city image, venues, initiatives, activities, safety, support and community involvement.
This shows that Derby.support has not suddenly started with business.
The business layer comes after years of community-first development.
---
The next stage includes:
This is the next practical phase of the network.
---
The business enrolment plan should be direct and easy to follow.
Businesses should not be given a long, exhausting form at first.
The questionnaire should be multi-choice first, with comment options where more detail is needed.
---
The questionnaire strategy has four layers.
This keeps the system organised.
It also avoids wasting the existing question bank.
The current TXTWRK/community question bank already includes questions about career status, work sectors, business setup, skills, Derby zones, venues, initiatives, digital boards, Derby’s image, whether organisations support people, and whether people feel they can have a say in city development.
---
These are the types of existing questions that should be highlighted for business use.
They are not all business-only questions. They are community questions that also help business intelligence.
## 15.2 City Development, Zones and Local Economy
## 15.3 Community Support and Participation
## 15.4 Events, Activities, Venues and Discovery
## 15.5 Safety, Access and Place Experience
---
These are the new questions that should be created specifically for businesses.
They should sit after the highlighted existing questions.
## 16.2 Customers and Interaction
## 16.3 Derby.support / TXTWRK Listing
## 16.4 Events and Meetups
## 16.5 Students and Local Collaboration
## 16.6 Feedback and Support
---
These questions should be separate so the event list is easy to extract.
---
Student involvement is one of the strongest parts of the Derby.support story.
Derby.support worked with Derby College social media students in 2025, giving them practical community campaign experience.
In 2026, this should continue and expand.
Businesses can be asked whether they would support:
This helps students gain real experience while helping local businesses improve visibility and connection.
---
TXTWRK can support this because each question can exist as a post.
Those posts can then be grouped into questionnaire sets.
Suggested logic:
---
Derby.support is not being created for one campaign, one event or one short-term business push.
It is the basis of years of work and the next stage of what is to come.
The project started with community, built through challenge, faced silence from organisations that should have understood the value of local community development, and now moves forward by enrolling people directly through TXTWRK.com.
Community comes first.
Business sits inside community.
Students sit inside community.
Events sit inside community.
Local discovery sits inside community.
Feedback sits inside community.
Derby.support is the network being built to connect all of it.
The long-term position is clear:
Derby.support will continue building with or without major support. It will enrol people through TXTWRK.com, connect businesses and community groups, promote events, create feedback tools, support students, build questionnaire sets, gather local intelligence and help Derby people find each other.
---
These are existing community questions that should be highlighted as relevant to business, local economy, events, discovery, skills, place experience and community support.
---

Q2. Compared with last year, is business:

Derby.support is a long-term community-built network for Derby.
The next step is to enrol people onto TXTWRK.com, help them add bios, make them discoverable, add events, answer questions, and connect through Derby.support.
This report gives the foundation:
This is the basis for progress over the years ahead.

1. Opening Context: Why Derby.support Is Enrolling Through TXTWRK.com
•register;
•add a bio;
•publish updates;
•answer questions;
•add events;
•become linkable through Derby.support;
•become easier for locals to find.
The goal is not only to build a directory. The goal is to build a living local network.
---
2. Community First: The Core Mission
Derby.support is community first.
Business is important, but business is not separate from community. Students are not separate from community. Events are not separate from community. Local discovery is not separate from community.
A real local network must include:
•residents;
•businesses;
•students;
•venues;
•creators;
•service providers;
•community groups;
•projects;
•events;
•public places;
•local issues;
•local feedback;
•future opportunities.
Derby.support exists to help Derby understand itself, connect itself and support itself.
The wider community question bank already proves this. It covers work, skills, learning, city image, activities, safety, initiatives, venues, local organisations and community involvement.
---
3. Why Businesses Sit Inside the Community Network
Businesses are part of local life.
A café, shop, venue, studio, market trader, event organiser, service provider, creator, charity, community group or independent trader can all shape how Derby feels.
Businesses need customers, but they also need:
•visibility;
•trust;
•footfall;
•feedback;
•online reach;
•event promotion;
•student support;
•local collaboration;
•easier ways to explain what they offer.
Derby.support can help businesses become more discoverable while also helping local people find useful services, events, places and opportunities.
This is why the business enrolment stage matters.
---
4. The Derby.support / TXTWRK.com Enrolment Model
The enrolment model is simple:
| Step | Action | Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Register on TXTWRK.com | Member has an account/profile |
| 2 | Add bio and public details | Derby.support can understand who they are |
| 3 | Add category/location | Member can be placed into relevant menus |
| 4 | Add posts/updates | Member can share activity |
| 5 | Add events | Events can become discoverable through Derby.support |
| 6 | Answer questionnaire sets | Derby.support gains local intelligence |
| 7 | Join events/meetups | Online discovery becomes real-world connection |
---
5. What Members Can Do After Registering
After registering on TXTWRK.com, members can:
•create a public bio;
•explain who they are;
•share their business/project/group;
•add updates;
•add events;
•answer questions;
•join grouped questionnaire sets;
•become linkable through Derby.support;
•become part of Derby’s local discovery network.
For businesses, this means more than just being listed. It gives them a route into local visibility, event discovery, customer feedback and future support tools.
For community groups, it gives a way to be found.
For students, it creates a route into real projects.
For residents, it creates a better way to see what is happening around Derby.
---
6. How Derby.support Indexing Works
Derby.support indexing means that a TXTWRK member can become linked through Derby.support menus.
The member may be organised by:
•area;
•category;
•business type;
•event type;
•service type;
•community role;
•student opportunity;
•products/services;
•feedback routes;
•local relevance.
This matters because Derby.support needs to make Derby easier to navigate.
The existing question bank already includes questions about zones, areas, venues, amenities and city navigation, showing that Derby.support has been thinking about place structure as well as general community feedback.
---
7. How TXTWRK Events Become Discoverable on Derby.support
When a member adds an event on TXTWRK.com, that event can become discoverable through Derby.support.
This helps:
•businesses promote open days, workshops, pop-ups and launches;
•venues promote sessions and gatherings;
•community groups promote meetups;
•students find live projects;
•residents find local activity;
•Derby.support build a live event layer.
Events are one of the easiest ways to move from online connection to real-world community.
---
8. The 2021–2026 Derby.support Progress Story
2021 — Starting Up
Derby.support began as a local community effort to build better support, connection and visibility in Derby.
2022 — Building the Framework
The project developed its framework, community direction and wider structure.
2023 — Raising the Bar
Derby.support secured the Derby.support domain and held an important meeting with around 5–10 organisations and local figures, including Alan Graves, Derby Museums, BBC Radio Derby and others.
This period showed that Derby.support could bring people and organisations into a serious conversation about local community development.
2024 — TXTWRK Tools and Local Presence
Derby.support spent more time developing TXTWRK tools, getting people onboard, preparing local systems and building website sections.
2025 — Derby College Student Work
Derby.support worked with Derby College social media students, giving them real community campaign experience.
This proved the value of connecting students with local projects, and it created a pathway that should continue into 2026.
2026 — Direct Enrolment
Now in 2026, Derby.support is moving into direct enrolment.
There have been major challenges, no donations and no financial support, but Derby.support remains active, optimistic and ready to build the next stage directly with the people of Derby.
---
9. Named Organisational Context and Communication History
This section records Derby.support’s experience of trying to communicate, collaborate, apply, contribute, support and build locally.
It is not included to stop progress. It is included because the full context matters.
University of Derby
Derby.support’s experience with the University of Derby in 2023 was disappointing.
From Derby.support’s perspective, the project was mocked or not taken seriously enough during the 2023 meeting, and the professional follow-up expected after engagement did not happen.
This matters because Derby.support was presenting a project connected to students, enterprise, civic technology, local development and community infrastructure.
Marketing Derby / CityLab
Derby.support attempted to support and recognise activity connected to Marketing Derby’s CityLab project.
This included gifting a mini Derby.support plaque, supporting and writing about their activity, and making videos connected to popup shops and community activity involving others.
Derby.support’s experience was that this support was not meaningfully recognised or responded to.
Derby City Council
Derby.support experienced poor communication and lack of response around support and financial applications while working with Derby College students in summer 2025.
This was especially frustrating because Derby.support was actively nurturing students and creating local value at the time.
Derby County Football Club
Derby.support invited and tagged Derby County Football Club through social media.
From Derby.support’s experience, those invitations and tags were ignored, despite the club publicly promoting community activity.
National Lottery Fund and Other Derby-Based Routes
Derby.support also experienced limited or failed responses from wider funding and support routes, including the National Lottery Fund and other Derby-based organisations.
The point is not that every organisation must support Derby.support. The point is that Derby.support repeatedly tried to communicate, collaborate, support others, apply for support and build local value, but too often received silence, weak communication or no follow-through.
---
10. Why Derby.support Is Building Directly With People Now
Derby.support has tried formal routes.
It has tried meetings, communications, support applications, collaboration, local recognition and student development.
The repeated experience of poor response shows why Derby.support now needs to build directly with:
•people;
•businesses;
•students;
•venues;
•creators;
•community groups;
•residents;
•local supporters.
---
11. What Derby.support Has Already Built
Derby.support has already built and developed:
•the Derby.support domain;
•the Derby Community Hub direction;
•TXTWRK-linked profile and posting infrastructure;
•a broad community question bank;
•the grouped questionnaire concept;
•local discovery ideas;
•event discovery direction;
•business/community indexing plans;
•student campaign experience;
•social media foundations;
•feedback tool concepts;
•community-made tool direction;
•local menus and navigation ideas.
The existing A4 briefing already states that Derby.support has community questions covering work, skills, city image, venues, initiatives, activities, safety, support and community involvement.
This shows that Derby.support has not suddenly started with business.
The business layer comes after years of community-first development.
---
12. What Derby.support Is Building Next
The next stage includes:
•enrolling businesses on TXTWRK.com;
•enrolling community members and supporters;
•helping members add bios;
•linking profiles into Derby.support menus;
•making events discoverable through Derby.support;
•grouping question posts into questionnaire sets;
•highlighting existing community questions relevant to business;
•creating new business multi-choice questions;
•identifying who wants to attend the next Derby.support event;
•connecting students with businesses and community projects;
•building feedback tools for organisations, places and objects;
•developing Derby.support as a long-term community discovery layer.
This is the next practical phase of the network.
---
13. Business Enrolment Plan
The business enrolment plan should be direct and easy to follow.
| Step | Action | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Explain Derby.support | Show community-first mission |
| 2 | Explain TXTWRK.com | Show where they register |
| 3 | Ask them to register | Create profile/account |
| 4 | Ask them to add bio | Prepare public listing |
| 5 | Confirm category/location | Prepare Derby.support indexing |
| 6 | Ask if they run events | Prepare event discovery |
| 7 | Ask if they want to be listed | Confirm consent/interest |
| 8 | Ask business questions | Understand needs |
| 9 | Ask event interest | Build next event list |
| 10 | Follow up | Keep relationship alive |
The questionnaire should be multi-choice first, with comment options where more detail is needed.
---
14. Questionnaire Strategy: Existing Community Questions + New Business Questions
The questionnaire strategy has four layers.
| Layer | Purpose | Use |
|---|---|---|

Derby.support worked with Derby College social media students in 2025, giving them practical community campaign experience.
In 2026, this should continue and expand.
Businesses can be asked whether they would support:
•student social media tasks;
•interviews;
•photography;
•video;
•flyers/posters;
•customer surveys;
•local research;
•event support;
•business write-ups;
•short creative briefs;
•work experience;
•mentoring;
•talks;
•showcases.
This helps students gain real experience while helping local businesses improve visibility and connection.

19. TXTWRK Implementation Notes: Grouping One-Question Posts Into Sets
TXTWRK can support this because each question can exist as a post.
Those posts can then be grouped into questionnaire sets.
| Item | Implementation |
|---|---|
| One question per post | Each question remains a TXTWRK post question |
| Grouped questionnaire sets | Questions can be grouped into business/community/event sets |
| Existing questions reused | Relevant 96-bank questions are highlighted, not duplicated blindly |
| Dedicated business questions added | New multi-choice questions sit after reused community questions |
| Comment option | Use “Other / engage & comment” where more detail is needed |
| Business-friendly UX | Multi-choice first so businesses actually complete it |
| Event list extraction | Event questions remain separate for easy follow-up |
| Data use | Results guide Derby.support listings, events, support priorities and feedback tools |

20. Closing Position: Community First, Business Inside Community, Derby.support as the Long-Term Network
